As a teenager, I overheard my Father talk about WWll and how Black, Jewish, Mexicans and Catholic soldiers were beaten, just because.
As a child, I watched TV in shock and disbelief as Southern Americans were fire-hosed because of the color of their skin.
I saw my Parents help others financially, expecting nothing in return.
I watched my parents debate others with views different than theirs, but do so with respect.
I AM A DEMOCRAT because my Parents were Democrats, not by voice, but by their actions, beliefs, and deeds. Family values and compassion were not slogans.
I AM A DEMOCRAT because it is important to care and respect each other.
